Welcome To Our Pets Page!

I want my classroom to be an exciting and special learning environment for my students. I find that a good way to do this is to have pets in my classroom. Not only do they provide a source of comfort and entertainment for my students, they can be used to teach responsibility, compassion and respect for all living things.

Red Eared Sliders

Hi I'm the classroom's Turtle. I'm semi aquatic. That means I live in water and on land. Turtles are supposed to be slow, but you should see how fast I can swim in the deep end of the tank. I like to play hide and go seek and sunbathe on rocks to get warm. I'm still just a baby and can fit in the palm of your hand, but I can grow up to 10" long. I like to eat turtle pellets whenever I am hungry.

Parakeets (Australian Budgerigar)

Hi I'm the classroom's Parakeet. I have the prettiest singing voice you will ever hear! Even though I do sing and dance when Mrs. Ellis is trying to talk, everyone just loves me! I have such a big cage with lots of toys that change often as I tend to get bored easily. I love to swing and fly, flap my wings, hang upside down, stand on one leg and chew on all my toys. I put on a great show! I like to eat my bird seed and my treats and drink lots of water.

Golden Gecko (Vietnamese)

Hi I am the classroom's Gecko. You will have a hard time finding me. I'm always hiding under rocks or in the plants or anywhere I can because I am very shy. I have very sticky feet and can hang upside down to be close to the warm light, so I'm always up high. I'm a very fast runner if I get out of my house I will run right up the classroom wall just for fun! I like to eat live crickets and meal worms at night, so no one can see.

White's Tree Frog (Australian)

Hi we are the classroom's Tree Frogs, how cute are we? We are nocturnal so we don't move around too much during the day. Even though we grew up in water as tadpoles, we really don't like to swim. However, we do enjoy soaking in a small puddle. We like to climb our tree branches and dangle, stretch, and jump. Our feet are so sticky and our legs so long that we can stretch very far without falling. We are very hungry all the time we would eat all day if we could. We love to eat live crickets, and will pounce from the other side of our house to gobble them up.
